Retriever Puppy Head Start Boarding School Program

Puppy Head Start is just what the name entails a "Head Start" for your retriever puppy making future training so much easier and faster.  This program is for retriever puppies under 5 months. Training can be for a few months or a week here and there.

I work with every retriever puppy as if it is my own ensuring your retriever puppy will make an excellent hunting companion as well as a great family pet.  During their stay, your retriever puppies will be boarded and trained by me.  I will introduce your retriever puppy to: water (weather permitting), birds (pigeons for

smaller retriever pups or ducks for bigger retriever puppies) , and gun fire. Marking skills are also taught along with basic obedience training.  Depending on the age of your puppy some of the initial Force Fetch process can be taught by what I a like to call "Happy Hold" and "Happy Fetch".

Gun Dog Training School Program

Your retriever will be taught to hold and be force fetched ensuring a great retrieve and delivery to hand.  Your retriever will be taught to mark on land and water as well as introduced to gun fire and birds.  Depending on how quick your dog excels in this program beginning handling will also be taught.

Owners are strongly encouraged to participate in the training as much a possible!  The more time you, as a retriever handler, can put into your retriever while it is in training and back at home will determine the long term outcome of your bird hunting dog.

Advanced Retriever Training Boarding School Program

(Handling and Running Blinds)

Advanced training is for someone that wants an EXCELLENT hunting partner and/or wants to compete with their retriever in AKC or UKC Hunt Tests.   Advanced training is very involved, and a lot of time and commitment is needed form both retriever and thier owner to excel at this program.

While focusing on training retrievers to handle, your dog will also continue to work on field work.  Multiple marking will be taught, doubles, and triples.  Dogs are also water forced and shore broke.

Hunting Dog Boarding School 

For clients in the Pacific Northwest, this boarding school program allows you to drive your Retriever to my training facility within a few hours. When bringing dogs from other states, it is neccesary to plan for air travel via a commercial flight. You can accompany your dog on the flight, or send your dog alone and Rogue Retrievers will arrange to pick up your dog at the Portland International Airport (PDX). Because requirements for pet travel vary and may change with no prior notice, clients should contact their airline of choice well in advance of the intended travel date for that airline’s specific pet travel/shipping restrictions, requirements, fees and reservations. Most airlines observe temperature and seasonal embargoes for pets traveling as checked baggage or cargo. Please check with your airline for current information.
